Alexandra Angélique Leeper is a visionary storyteller and crafted actress. In her early 20’s, she developed Living Light Productions in Los Angeles, to share stories of painful and dangerous moments moving into transformation and ultimately, higher states of consciousness.
She earned her BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where she studied acting and was well trained in musical theatre at CAP21. She worked during this time in the Graduate Film Department and graduated with NYU’s Founder’s Day Award for excellence. She also trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Alexandra has over 14 years of experience with and study of the sacred practice of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation, many of which she taught regularly, both in groups and privately. She is the founder of Yoga4Artists, designed to introduce this sacred practice into performance and artistic settings. She also practices Jivamukti Yoga, Vinassa, Hot Yoga and Shambhala Buddhist Meditation. She produced an album with Sounds True called Kundalini Meditation Music that made Amazon’s Top 100 Albums of 2009 and is sold all over the country and internationally.
Alexandra wrote a feature length narrative screenplay entitled, The Distance Between Insanity and Genius, as well as a short film script – which was selected to be produced into a short film by the Elevate Film Festival.
Early in her career, she directed, wrote and produced two notable theatre productions in Hollywood. The first was a one-woman show, within which she starred as a troubled 17 yr. old male hip-hop artist on the verge of a mass homicide. The piece was inspired by a life changing true event where she was able to play a pivotal role in the transformation of a stranger who was very dangerous and also undergoing enormous personal suffering.
The second was Freak Show, produced on Hollywood Blvd., cast primarily of some of LA’s top A-List fashion models and explored themes of coming to love and accept the inner freak (created by personal insecurity) within ourselves, while celebrating our sameness as a human race. She taught the models how to approach the craft of acting – and they did remarkably well, even though most of them had never acted before. She also co-directed and played a central role in the play. She has also produced Off-Broadway on Theatre Row in NYC.
Presently, in addition to her work on a feature-length story-experience in virtual reality as a co-creator, producer and writer, she is also developing a large budget Hollywood feature film entitled The Wild Ones, about the extraordinary journey of the female American hero in history known as “Wild Horse Annie,” who saved the last of America’s Wild Mustangs from man’s slaughter into extinction in the late 1940’s through 1970’s. She is passionate about telling stories that question the status quo, break down barriers between people and shed light on the darkness within us as a human race.
Alexandra is a member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors’ Equity Association. She trains professionally with NYC’s legendary acting teacher Terry Schreiber on an ongoing basis. She also is a very well trained singer and dancer, and chants in ancient tongues.
Alexandra’s self-realization lies at the point where artistic vision, spiritual wisdom and entrepreneurial savvy meet.
